Data from the Spanish Statistical Office shows that the number of Canadian tourists traveling to Spain doubled in the last three years since 2018 and reached 500,000 in 2017.

489,000 Canadians visited Spain in 2017; this was a 25% increase from 2016 data. The tourists spent 837 million euros, a 15.6% increase from the previous year. In the hotels of Canadian people, the number of overnight stays also increased by 11.7%.

Canadian tourists are mostly interested in Barcelona, followed by Madrid and then Andalusia. Over 30% of Canadian tourists in Spain are between 55 and 64 years old; this means that they have a higher purchasing power and less dependent on the topsy-turviness of the economic situation.
