When to Submit an RBC Claim
You should submit your RBC insurance claim as soon as possible after the damage or other incident occurs. The amount of time you have to file a claim depends on the type of coverage you have. Your policy explains the time frame for filing a claim.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed dealing with the incident itself. However, filing your claim on time is one of the most important things you can do to for successful claim submission.
Submit an RBC Health or Life Insurance Claim
You'll need to call RBC to start a new health or life insurance claim. The toll-free number is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm ET.
If you have your policy number, you'll get faster service when you call. However, a representative will be able to help you even if you can't find the policy number.
Submitting an RBC Health Insurance Claim
After you've started the claims process, you'll need to complete and submit the required documentation. You can find a claim form on the RBC insurance website. You can also ask the phone representative to send you a form.
You'll need documentation from your physician. For disability insurance, you'll need a form from your employer. For long-term care insurance, you'll need the care facility or your home care provider to complete and submit a questionnaire.
The RBC representative will tell you if you need other documentation.
Submitting an RBC Life Insurance Claim
For a life insurance claim, you'll first need to complete the claim form. You'll need to provide the birth and death certificates as well.
If the policy is worth $100,000 or less, you may be eligible for express service. You can use this service if the policy meets two conditions. First, the policy must have been in force continuously for 10 years or more.
Second, the policy must have a named beneficiary. If the policy lists the estate as the beneficiary, you'll need to follow the regular process.
Submit an RBC Home Insurance Claim
The home insurance claims process includes standard home insurance, tenant insurance, and condo insurance.
Before you submit a home insurance claim, you can get confidential and anonymous claims advice. Advisors are available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm ET. This service is open to residents of all provinces and territories except Quebec.
It's important to check your home insurance policy to see exactly what coverage you have before you file a claim. For example, an All Perils policy protects your insured property against a wide range of risks. A Specified Perils policy only protects against the most common risks (as listed in your policy).
Documentation
To get the fastest claims processing, you should have some information ready. First, have your policy number. Photos or videos of any damage are helpful. Get a copy of the police report if the police were involved.
Make an inventory of the damages and losses to your property and belongings. A detailed list describing the stolen property is also useful if anything was stolen.
Be ready to provide the name and contact information of any service providers you used. You should also expect to show invoices and receipts for any out-of-pocket expenses.
Submitting Your Claim
You can submit your RBC home insurance claim online or over the phone. Your claims advisor may send an adjuster to assess the damage. The adjuster will give you an estimate for the time and cost of repairs.
Your claims advisor can even schedule the repairs and any care you need through Aviva's network of trusted contractors and medical professionals. You have the option of choosing your own contractor or medical professional. You don't need to choose a provider in the Aviva network.
Submit an RBC Travel Insurance Claim
You can submit an RBC travel insurance claim online, by phone or fax, or by mail. Assured Assistance Inc. is the operating entity for RBC travel insurance.
Emergency Medical Claims
If you have a medical emergency during your trip, you should call the Assured Assistance Inc. emergency contact number as soon as medically possible. If your medical condition makes it impossible for you to call before receiving treatment, someone else can call on your behalf.
Calling at the time of the emergency helps ensure that you receive the full benefits and coverage your policy includes. You can call 24/7 from anywhere in the world.
Trip Cancellation Claims
If you need to cancel your trip before the departure, call RBC right away. You need to call them the same day as the cause of the cancellation. Call your travel provider to cancel the trip no later than one business day afterward.
Documentation for Travel Insurance Claims
For all travel insurance claims, you'll need to submit the appropriate claim form. You may need to submit other documents depending on your policy and the type of claim. For example, you'll need a medical certificate for trip cancellation due to medical reasons.
