What Is Manulife FollowMe?
The Manulife FollowMe health plans are designed for retirees, people between jobs, or those who simply wish to have great health insurance.
There are four plan options to choose from: Basic, Enhanced, Enhanced Plus, and Premiere. All options offer different amounts of coverage based on your insurance needs as an individual or family.
Some of the benefits that Manulife offers are vision and medical coverage while traveling.
To sign up, you will have to apply within 60 days of the end date of your current health insurance. And all applicants get accepted once their payments are received. You won't even have to undergo a medical exam or answer a questionnaire.
Here are the specifics of what you can expect when signing up for the Manulife Follow Me Enhanced Plan:
Prescription Drug Plans
With the costs of prescription drugs constantly increasing, you need a health insurance plan that helps cover some of your expenses. Because of this, all of the FollowMe plans offer some coverage for both generic drugs and the dispensing fees you will incur.
The Enhanced plan covers 80% of the copay fee and the yearly maximum is $500.
Vision Care
Your FollowMe insurance will cover some of the costs that go toward services and products that help improve or maintain your vision. You can expect to have prescription frames and lenses, contact lenses, and corrective laser eye surgery covered.
You will be charged $150 per two benefit years plus $30 for visits to your optometrist.
Hospital Stays
If you are ever sick enough to require an extended hospital stay, you are probably going to deal with some stress regarding missed work, hospital bills, and the state over your overall health. Your medical insurance plan can help eliminate some of your worries and fears by offering coverage when you need it most.
The FollwMe Enhanced Plan can help you carry some of the load.
For starters, you will receive 100% coverage for the first 60 days of a hospital stay.
The plan also offers coverage for the hospital accommodations you prefer with a maximum of $175 every day for a semi-private room.
You will also receive a cash benefit of $50 daily in lieu of room costs for the days you aren't able to obtain your preferred accommodations.
Semi-private rooms are offered on all the FollowMe plans. And the premiere plan allows you access to a private room.
Extended Healthcare Benefits
Extended health care benefits offer coverage to patients beyond the typical doctor's appointment.
For instance, if you are injured in a car accident and need to spend time in a hospital and then visit with a physical therapist for a few months, your extended care benefits will kick in.
Another instance would be if you were left traumatized by the accident and needed to see a psychologist on top of seeking medical treatment.
The enhanced plan pays a total of $200,000 in extended health care benefits per lifetime.
Here are some more extended care benefits you can expect from your FollowMe plan:
- Survivor Benefit- This gives coverage to the spouse or children after the death of the policyholder.
- Fracture Benefit- This benefit pays for the care that's required to heal a fractured bone.
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment- If there is a death or dismemberment as a result of some kind of accident, you will receive coverage.

Third Year and beyond: $2,500
Custom made orthotics are also covered for $225 each year and fall under the durable medical equipment category.
