Randy Narine received a call from his cousin in Trinidad on the morning of December 1, 2017, asking him to call. His parents were on vacation to Trinidad to celebrate their 39th wedding ceremony and were to return to Brampton the following day.

Randy recalled that by the time he got to the car, he was on his knees in the parking lot and could not believe what he heard. The body of Vishnu Narine was discovered near a pond in Ste. Madeleine earlier in the morning. Trinidad and Tobago police were actively investigating his death.

Randy tells Global News that his father was shot twice in the head. Narine left early the evening of Thursday, November 30, 2018. He and his wife was staying with family on the Caribbean island. His family said that he was carrying $1,800 Canadian cash at the time. He was likely meeting with someone to purchase birds for a side business he started in his retirement.
