Portugal Travel Insurance News

Canada recently signed an agreement with Portugal under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. This makes Portugal the newest country to have such an agreement with Canada.

The agreement opens further channels making exchange between Portuguese and Canadian youth seamless. It also allows Portuguese youth to work in Canada and at the same time, allowing Canadian youth to travel and work in Portugal.

The Honorable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, and Jose Luis Carneiro, Secretary of State of Portuguese Communities Abroad, signed the new bilateral Youth Mobility Agreement between the two countries in early 2018 and the agreement has been finalized.

The agreement stipulates that foreign nationals from Portugal can participate in all three of the IEC programs which include working holiday, young professionals, and international co-op.

The IEC program is designed to allow youths to gain international work experience and travel abroad. Canada has had formal Youth Mobility Agreement with 33 other countries and territories.
