Tourism is one of the most important sectors in Cambodia’s economy. In 2017, the Southeast Asian country recorded a whopping number of over 5.6 million tourists, up by 12% from the previous year with tourist flow of over 5 million visitors.

International tourists who visit Cambodia come from various countries with ASEAN having most of the population. However, Canadians also visit Cambodia. According to a ranking of international visitor arrivals in Cambodia, Canada was ranked 16th from 2011 to 2017.

Moreover, Cambodia shares a strong bilateral relationship with Canada in various aspects such as people-to-people ties, trade, and investment. There are about 35,000 Canadians of Cambodian origin and about 7,000 Canadians living in Cambodia in 2017.

It should be noted that your provincial plan will not cover you outside Canada. Thus, you need to have the right Cambodia travel insurance before you travel to the Southeast Asian country. Cambodia Travel Insurance News

When two Canadians, Eden Kazoleas and Jessica Drolet, were arrested in Cambodia for pornographic dancing, their lawyer took issues with photos distributed for the alleged incident after they arrived home in Canada following their release on bail.

Kazoleas and Drolet denied the charges against them when they spoke to reporters at Toronto’s Pearson airport. The two were arrested in January 2018, for allegedly posting photos in social media that show them dancing pornographically at a pool party.

After landing in Canada, Drolet said they are just glad to be back and Kazoleas thanked the authorities of Cambodia for their understanding and said she would not be commenting on the case because there are still three people in custody.

She added that she is not aware that attending an outdoor party pool was not allowed in the Cambodian culture but maintained that she was not part of any pornographic dancing. Both of them took issue with how the media portrayed them.
