British Virgin Islands Travel Insurance News

B.C. residents, Debbie Ridgeway, and her family moved to the British Virgin Islands in 2010, but when the Hurricane Irma hit the island of Virgin Gorda, they resorted to a friend’s bathroom.

Ridgeway said it hit all of a sudden and you could hear the glass shattering and all the air sucked out of the house. The Ridgeways’ home was destroyed in the incident and not much was left standing except the island in the kitchen.

With the help of her sister who works with the non-profit United BVI, Ridgeway and her children had to travel to Puerto Rico, leaving her husband behind. They were overwhelmed by the donations.

Ridgeway said they want to go back there. Their entire island is a tourist island and they thrive off tourists.
