Redbone Coonhounds Pet Insurance News

Perhaps, social media has a positive side; the reunion of James Dumont and his best friend, Red a Redbone Coonhound, proves this.

Dumont adopted Red from northern B.C. in September 2017 and just two days after, the dog was snatched in Saanich. This led to a frantic search for the dog that involved the police.

Dumont said he thought someone was trying to get the dog off the island, so he went up to the ferries in search for him but the dog was nowhere to be found.

The brand-new puppy had no tattoo, microchip or other identification. Dumont waited as time kept passing away without any sign of the dog.

However, FLED, a charity who help people to find their lost and escaped dogs took it upon themselves to find the dog. They posted images on social media and after six months Dumont got a lead to Red’s whereabouts and eventually the dog was found.

Red was taken to Coastal Animal Services located in Duncan. He was held for several weeks waiting for someone to claim him. Dumont eventually found his dog in the animal shelter.
