Are you looking to head out for a great escape? Maybe you're looking for something warm and tropical in the midst of a cold winter?
If that's the case, you'll want to book a flight to Mexico! With endless activities in the country, beautiful beaches, and tons of history to learn about, you'll always be entertained.
If you are planning on going on vacation soon, it's time to look into the Hotel Xcaret Mexico. Here's why.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is an all-inclusive resort located in the Cancun and Playa del Carmen area of Mexico. The hotel is one-of-a-kind, and a first of its kind, because it is the first all-inclusive resort in Riviera Maya to allow access to all Xcaret hotels in the area, not just this one!
You'll be able to explore the surrounding areas, Mexico's history, and all of the best parks that come with your stay on your Mexican vacation.
You'll have access to delicious culinary experiences, beautiful rooms, and gorgeous views of the beach at the hotel.
Mexico is a vast country with 50 ecological regions to be exact. Ranging from the Baja California Desert to the Chihuahuan Desert, and from the Petén-Veracruz moist forests to the Yucatán moist forests, there are so many different types of areas.
As part of the ecosystem, Mexico touches both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It also has two mountain ranges - the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain ranges - that run through the country.
Due to the vastness of the country and the different areas, the climate and weather depend on the area you go to.
If you're planning to go to Hotel Xcaret, you'll be welcomed by a tropical, humid climate.
Getting to Hotel Xcaret Mexico
When going on vacation, figuring out how you are going to get to the hotel might be one of your first questions. You may be asking yourself how you're going to get there, how long it's going to take, and what will the experience be like. We're here to make things simple.
Location
The Hotel Xcaret Mexico is located in the Yucatan Peninsula, between Cancun and Tulum. It is directly across from the island Cozumel. If you fly into the Cancun airport, you are about an hour away from the hotel, which is pretty typical of the hotels in Riviera Maya.
Transportation
Finding transportation to and from the hotel is something you can check off your to-do list because the hotel takes care of it all for you. The resort offers transportation to and from the airport, as well as to the other properties all included in the price of your stay.
If you choose not to take the airport transfer, you can also go by bus or taxi from the airport.
In addition to transportation to the airport, there is also a boat that transports you to Embarcadero Isla Mujeres por Xcaret. There is also a ferry ride to Isla Mujeres with Xcaret Xailing.
Local Language and Culture
There is much more to the local culture of Mexico than just tourism, although that is a huge part. Right outside of Cancun, you can dive deep into the history of the country with Mayan ruins. Mexican culture is influenced by ancient civilizations such as the Aztec, Maya, and European colonization.
Whether you leave the hotel property or are staying at the hotel the entire time, you will also immerse yourself into local Mexican culture with their delicious cuisine, beautiful Spanish language, music, dancing, and rich traditions.
Is it Beneficial to Know a Little Spanish?
If you are visiting a Mexican hotel, it is always courteous to learn a little Spanish to talk to your servers and the hotel staff. It shows that you are interested in their culture and respect their language and traditions. A few words you should know are:
Hello - Hola
Bye - Adios
How are you? - ¿Como está?
What's up? - ¿Qué pasa?
There are many other words out there in Spanish that could come in handy to know. Doing your research before you go is a great idea!
The Atmosphere at the Hotel Xcaret Mexico
The Hotel Xcaret Mexico is nothing short of luxurious and relaxing.
Upon arrival, you are transported into a new world of luxury by way of the beautiful suites, the pristine views, and the delectable dishes you will eat.
Not only will you experience luxury, but you will also be getting a taste of the rich Mexican culture. The design of the hotel combined with the surrounding nature sets this hotel apart.
How Do People Rate the Service?
With over 8,000 reviews on TripAdvisor, the service and overall experience of the Hotel Xcaret Mexico is rated at a 4.5.
Out of these reviews, the subcategories of the location and the cleanliness of the hotel are rated as a 5, while the service and value are at a 4.5.
Hotel Amenities
One of the best parts about Hotel Xcaret is the number of hotel amenities it offers. Not just at its own property, but at other properties and parks as well.
A rafting park, underground rivers, nighttime adventure parks, and cenotes are just part of the fun.
Restaurants
If you are a foodie, then you will definitely not be disappointed with this property. With over 12 restaurants to choose from, you will have a full belly the entire time!
Each one of the restaurants takes on its own flare, each with different cuisines and a different ambiance.
Try Fuego for an Italian-Mexican twist or Las Cuevas for a delicious steak located inside natural caves. Whether you feel like seafood or a plant-based meal, Hotel Xcaret has it for you.
Bars
There are no separate bars, they are all a part of the restaurants. However, mixology is not something that we think you want to miss. The mixologists on property meticulously create the drinks with both the aesthetic and flavour in mind.
While the bars are a part of the restaurants, if you're relaxing on the beach or by the pool, you are still able to order a drink and they'll bring it right out to you.
Spa
If you want a few hours off of the beach and out of the sun, scheduling a spa appointment is a must. We recommend trying a Mayan facial treatment and a wrap for pure relaxation at the spa.
You can also have one of these treatments:
Mud bath
Ayurvedica treatments
Exfoliation treatments
Traditional massages
Sensorial treatments
Each one of the treatments offers something unique and special, some an experience you've probably never had before. If you've never experienced a sensorial treatment, we think now is the time!
Parks
One of the best parts of Hotel Xcaret is that when you stay there, you have full access to all of their parks. These include:
Xel-Há
Xplor
Xoximilco
Xenses
Xplor Fuego
Xavage
Xenotes
Xcaret
Each one of the parks offers something entirely different. For instance, Xenses is a park that puts all of your senses to the test in ways you probably have never experienced before like flying to journey through different ecosystems in total darkness.
On the other hand, Xavage gives you the opportunity to drive a truck around obstacles or paddle on whitewater. Xenotes gives you the chance to explore four beautiful cenotes in Mexico.
While you may not get to all of the parks, we highly recommend that you do at least two since each one is so different.
Excursions
While Hotel Xcaret Mexico has its own parks that you can visit and explore, there are also multiple excursions that you can take to explore more of the country. Isla Mujeres, Rio Secreto, Chicen Itza, and Tulum are just a few of the many options.
Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres is a small island off the coast of Cancun that offers so much diversity, from the locals to the art. If you visit, you'll meet so many different personalities as well as see beautiful beaches and crystal clear water.
If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place we recommend. You can relax on the beach, dive or snorkel to the Underwater Sculpture Museum, or visit the Turtle Farm. You can also go to Hacienda Mundaca, which includes ruins with a solar clock garden.
Adding Isla Mujeres to your Mexican vacation is the perfect way to see some ocean wildlife.
Rio Secreto
Rio Secreto is a secret underground river that will blow you away. Taking a visit here will transport you thousands of years into the past when geological formations like this one came to be.
You'll see stunning stalactites and stalagmites cascading down from the walls of the caves. You'll experience true silence among some of the most exotic mineral formations in the world.
The river is extremely close to the hotel, but transportation is not included. However, it is only a short way to get there.
Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza is one of Mexico's most popular attractions and archaeological sites. In the past, Chichen Itza was part of a city built by the Mayan people.
It is also now one of the New 7 Wonders of the World as of 2007. You'll have the chance to learn about ancient Mayan rituals and beliefs as well as explore the ruins and walking trails. It's important to note that you cannot climb Chichen Itza anymore. They stopped allowing people to climb the pyramid in 2006. But you can still get amazing photographs of this historic site on your excursion.
To get here from the hotel, it is about a 2 and a half-hour drive. You can set up a tour for transportation to get there. Although it seems far, it is definitely worth it as a day excursion.
Tulum
Tulum is not just known for its beaches, but also its jungles, cenotes, and amazing nightlife. There are some great spots for pictures, too, like the Ven a La Luz sculpture.
If you're just visiting for a day, here are some amazing sights you should check out:
Gran Cenote
Laguna de Kaan Luum
The ruins of Coba
Cenote Caracol
You could potentially add a few days to your trip to stay in Tulum if you want to hit it all.
Is the Hotel Xcaret Mexico Kid-Friendly or Adults Only?
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is a very kid-friendly resort!
There are so many different activities that are for both kids and adults. While adults may enjoy the restaurants and bars, the kids can enjoy all of the parks offered.
No matter your age, this hotel has something to offer everyone.
Is It Safe to Travel off the Resort Alone?
Cancun is a reasonably safe location so leaving the resort by yourself is generally okay. With that said, it's important to always use common sense and be aware of your surroundings. Let the front desk know that you're leaving, where you will be going, and when you intend on returning.
The crime rates in Cancun are much lower than in other parts of Mexico.
Are There Extra Costs to Be Aware Of?
The best part about staying at Hotel Xcaret Mexico is that your food and beverages are included since it is an all-inclusive property!
When booking, if you want to include the parks as part of your stay, you will need to book it with that option, which tends to be a bit pricier. If you choose to do any additional activities at the property, keep in mind that some are not included with your stay. This includes scuba diving or going boating.
We recommend carefully reading the fine print of the package you choose since each one has different things that come with it.
Best Time to Visit Hotel Xcaret Mexico
While Mexico's weather is beautiful year-round, the most popular travel time is December - April. You'll be avoiding most tropical weather and extreme heat.
However, if you want to avoid crowds, we recommend heading to Mexico in September or October (or really any of the other Fall months). Since it is a slower time, it is also a generally cheaper time to travel.
Overall Reviews
The reviews of the Hotel Xcaret Mexico are overall positive. From the food to the service, and the amenities to the room options, people have great things to say.
Because of the vastness of the property, everyone can find something they love about it!
