The tour is a great way to see the city and learn more about the local history from an expert guide.

If you want to soak up some history you should plan to take the hotel's tour to Tikal! This incredible pyramid is located in the middle of the high canopy jungle. 

The beautiful temple and its surrounding city take up about 35 square miles of space. However, archeologists state that they could be digging up ruins in the area for the next century.

Probably the best tour offered by the hotel is a trip out to Lamanai. This tour takes you an hour away from the hotel to a riverboat that guides you through lagoons and swamps. 

After an hour and a half on the water, you'll arrive at a stunning ancient temple. The temple features depictions of ancient gods and rulers and is surrounded by wildlife.

Another beautiful set of ruins can be found at Altun Ha. On this tour, you'll head out of the city to see one of the largest pieces of carved jade that the Maya ever completed. 

You'll take a look at thirteen different temples and learn all about the unique, ancient Mayan culture. Enjoy learning about what life was like thousands of years ago as you stroll through this archeological park.

If you love animals then you won't want to miss out on the Best Western Plus's zoo tour. This tour takes you 30km out of the city to a zoo that has tons of animals native to Central America.

The trip to the zoo lasts about two hours and allows you to visit tons of animals that are native to the country. Expect to see jaguars, macaws, toucans, ocelots, margays, and several kinds of monkeys!
