A Metro Vancouver woman claims that she will be beaten or maybe killed because she is gay if she is deported to her native country of Cameroon.

The woman, identified as Angela, said that they keep beating and beating you until death and the police will not interfere in it. They call it jungle justice.

Angela is married to her same sex partner. Homosexuality is illegal in Cameroon and so her former partner was reportedly detained and beaten in Cameroon.

The NDP’s immigration critic, Jenny Kwan, has been advocating for Angela for about 2 years. She says that an impression will be made based on how the government handles the issue.

Officials doubted Angela’s story and so her initial refugee claim was rejected. According to Kwan, the evidence is clear and the minister of immigration, refugees, and citizenship should intervene. Kwan added that she has no doubt that Angela will be persecuted and her life will be at risk if deported.
