Red Deer is a Canadian city, located in Central Alberta close to the midpoint of the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor and bordered by Red Deer County. After Calgary and Edmonton, Red Deer is the third most populous city in Canada. Red Deer was founded in 1882, incorporated as a village in 1894, as a town in 1901, and as a city in 1913. Based on the 2016 Canadian population census, the city has a population of 100, 418, a land area of 104.73 square kilometers and a population density of 958.8 per square kilometers.
Due to its location in the aspen parkland, the city is a home to oil, grain, and cattle production. The surrounding region of Red Deer is a center for petrochemical production. Furthermore, the city has several interesting arts and culture. It was named the Cultural Capital of Canada by Canadian Heritage in 2003 and it is home to several arts and cultural groups.
